Digital Adventure!

Friends, I hope you do not feel sad that we can not have fun adventures on play dates in the physical world. But if you do, I beg you to consider all the joy we can bring ourselves if we just use imagination to enter the digital realm. COME WITH ME!

Are you here? Hello! Take my hand and we can go for a walk on the footpaths of the information superhighway. Oh what amazing sights to see! Look to your left and see the behemoths that are known as "search engines." These gentle giants meander from site to site, feeding off data! As long as we don't disturb them we are safe to just watch them and bask in their majestic nature. And can you smell the data they harvest? The ambrosial aroma of information wafting in the wind. Oh look! A password landed on my nose, can you take it off for me? You're so sweet. I hope that wasn't a code to anything important.

Follow me still, friend. There is a secret place I would like to show you. It is a rather steep climb, I'd recommend easing your load. Why not delete your history? That should make this journey easier. We are almost there.

We're here! It's awfully high up isn't it, but look at that view. You can see all the way to Weibo from here! What exactly are we standing on? I'm glad you asked, lie down next to me on this pile of html and I'll explain. Friend, we are lying on what has been forgotten. This grand mountain is compiled from the old web pages, forums, email addresses, and any other digital relics that nobody uses anymore. Do you see that tree? It's made from the inboxes of old hotmail accounts! Isn't it pretty? You know, every day new things show up here. Sometimes it's because people forgot about them, sometimes they were cast off for convenience's sake, and sometimes people threw them away because they felt ashamed of them. I come here to learn about my digital friends. I read through their old posts and I gather their old information so I can know more about their lives. I haven't stumbled upon your data yet, but I'm sure it's out there. It is a very big mountain after all. What have you discarded here?

Well friend, I'm afraid it's time for our little adventure to end. I hope you enjoyed everything I showed you, I just think it's all so neat! Now of course we imagined all this, I can't actually go to these places, but wouldn't that be something?
